A museum-grade, exceptionally rare George III era (circa 1790–1810) antique sterling silver miniature pocket purse snuff/pill box.
Exquisitely hand-crafted by the highly collectible Birmingham silversmiths T. Simpson & Son (clearly stamped S&S), this pocket masterpiece weighs an incredibly tactile, featherweight 6.6 grams.
The exterior showcases breathtaking Georgian bright-cut hand engraving styled to realistically mimic a pocket purse or hand satchel.
One face boasts a beautiful central floral blossom cartouche framed by fine stippled borders, while the reverse displays a spectacular geometric tapestry diaper pattern.
The lid opens smoothly to reveal its clean, immaculate, and original gold-gilt (vermeil) interior tray designed to protect the silver. The inside is stamped with a pristine set of early hallmarks, including the S&S maker's mark and the historic Sovereign's Head Duty mark.
A pristine addition to a high-end collection.
